1968 Corvette 400 HP, 4 speed Beast. Absolutely breath taking 1968 Chevy Corvette with a monstrous 350CI motor built up to nearly 400 HP and a 4 speed manual transmission that is ready to tear up the streets. The motor looks dirty and it's only because the hood has an opening for more air intake and I got caught in the rain a few times. I know the car has been in michigan, new jersey, and wisconsin. As you can see it had some custom work done to it, including a fiberglass body kit to flare the fenders (so they can house the racing profile tires), fixed headlights. This vehicle was designed for street/highway use, although it is most comfortable tearing it up on long stretches. Under the hood lies a heavily modified 355ci motor (350 bored 0.030 over), with a nice lumpy camshaft, weiand intake, some minor head work (so I was told), MSD pro-billet distributor, holley double-pumper carburetor. OPTIONS: A31 POWER WINDOWS, A82 HEAD RESTRAINTS, J50 POWER BRAKES, M21 4 SPEED CLOSE RATIO M21, N40 POWER STEERING. PERFORMANCE: 355CI MOTOR (BORED 0.030 OVER, SUPPOSEDLY PUSHING CLOSE TO 4OOHP FROM WHAT THE PREVIOUS OWNER TOLD ME, WITH A M-21 FOUR SPEED. I was told by the previous owner that this car had 202 racing heads, but I don't know where to look to be certain. CHROME EDELBROCK AIR CLEANER, CHROME BREATHER CAPS, CHROME VALVE COVERS, HEAVY DUTY CAMSHAFT, FLEX FAN, WEIAND HIGH-RISE PERFORMANCE INTAKE MANIFOLD, HOLLEY 4BBL. DOUBLE-PUMPER CARBURETOR, FULL HEADERS, SIDE PIPES, CUSTOM FIXED HEADLIGHTS, CUSTOM FLARED FENDERS, L-88 STYLE HOOD, ALUMINUM RACING STYLE GAS CAP, CUSTOM STARTER SHIELD, CUSTOM BILLET ALUMINUM GRILL, CUSTOM TAILLIGHT LENSES. Has a brand new master cylinder. RACING PROFILE TIRES THAT ARE STREET LEGAL. FRONT: 235/60'S REAR: IMPRESSIVE 296/50'S. WHEN BOUGHT THESE ARE THE NEWTHINGS THE CAR HAD NEW ON IT 4 YEARS AGO: NEW FRONT CARPETING, CORVETTE FLOOR MATS, E-BRAKE COVER, ALTERNATOR, VOLTAGE REGULATOR, TIRES, LOWER FRONT VALENCE, STARTER, STARTER SHIELD, ENGINE HARNESS, FRONT CROSSMEMBER, FRONT CRUSHZONE REPLACED. THE ENGINE REBUILD WAS DONE 6 YEARS AGO AS FAR AS I COULD TELL, BUT I HAVE NO PAPERWORK TO PROVE. DOESN'T LOOK LIKE THE ENGINE WAS PAINTED ONCE REBUILD SO IT WAS MOST PROBABLY A TOP END REDO, BUT I AM NOT CERTAIN. Most of the pictures were taken on a gravel drive, that is a friends driveway, I have a concrete driveway as you can see in the first picture. I know that matters to some people, the car normally sits in a garage, and a heated garage in winter! INTERIOR: THE SEAT COVERS ARE WORN AND SHOULD BE REPLACED. DASH HAS NO CRACKES. THE DASH WAS REPLACEd AT ONE TIME SO I CAN'T SAY IT HAS THE CORRECT MILeAGE, YOU WOULD HAVE TO RUN A VIN CHECK TO GET A MORE ACCURATE. i WOULD THINK THE CAR HAS MORE THAN 55,000 MILES BUT YOU NEVER KNOW. CARPET IN FRONT IS GOOD, BUT REAR SECTION SHOULD BE REPLACE. NOT ALL THE GAUGES WORK, BUT OIL PRESSURE AND FUEL WORK FINE, I dont remember which one does not work. THE PAINT ON THE CAR IS FAIR TO GOOD, THERE ARE SPOTS WHERE THE PAINT HAS CRACKED AND i WOULD GET THE CAR REPAINTED. IN THE FIRST PICTURE THE PAINT LOOKS DULL, I WASHED IT AFTER THAT FIRST PICTURE, IT HAD DUST ON THE CAR, BUT THE REST OF THE PCITURES SHOWS THE REAL SHINE. LOOK CLOSE CAUSE THERE ARE A FEW FLAWS IN THE PAINT, BUBBLES BY THE HOOD SCOOP, AND PAINT CHIPPING BY THE GAS CAP, PASSENGER SIDE REAR FIN, AND BY ONE TOP OF T-TOP. THE PAsSENGER DOOR DOES NOT OPEN FROM THE OUTSIDE, IM SURE IT'S AN EASY FIX. THE POWER WINDOWS AND FRONT HEADLIGHTS, HORN, WIPERS(WHICH ARE MISSING) DO NOT WORK, THE WIRING WAS NOT CONNECTD FOR THE HEADLIGHTS, I ONLY DROVE DURING THE DAY SO I NEVER WORRIED ABOUT IT. THE E BRAKE WORKS BUT COULD USE A NEW CABLE THE FRAME IS SOLID AND HAS MINIMAL SURFACE RUST. the windshield cracked last year, I have kept it on a heated garage, I have no idea why the windshield cracked, i pulled the cover off the car one day and it was cracked. THE CAR HAS A BRAND NEW GAS TANK!!!!! the corvette also has a brand new accelerator cable. I hood release snaped. The hood relaese cable would need to be replaced. All the information I have is from the previous owner, I bought the car with intention of finishing it and I never got around to it. This car is not ready for the car show yet but with a little work and paint this car can be ready for spring. I also have many parts that you will need to finish the front to get it original if wanted, and some other parts, I have pictures of most of the parts. PAINT CODE 988. October 7, 2008. |
